Micky Adams began meeting the players this morning at the training ground, and two faces would have been familiar for the new Albion boss.

Kuipers was a key part of the championship winning side Adams built during his first spell in charge, while Whing played under him at Coventry - and the duo have been giving the rest of the squad the lowdown on their new gaffer.

Whing told Seagulls World, "The lads spoke to me this morning about what he was like, and I think I've scared a few of them off!

"Obviously we'll need to be very fit before pre-season, we'll work hard and he'll do everything possible to get us out of this division.

"He's a very good manager. He had a lot of success here, and we'll be hoping he can bring the same sort of success here again.

"I'm looking forward to working with him again. We'll be very organised and very fit, and I'm looking forward to the new season."

Like Whing, Kuipers has also his team-mates about Adams's work ethic, and has backed the new Albion boss to lead the club to more success.

Kuipers said, "It shows great ambition for the club to bring Micky back to Brighton. I'm looking forward to working with him. He's a winner and knows how to win things.

"(The lads) can expect somebody who's very hot on team spirit. He wants his team to work hard, graft and be competitive all over the pitch.

"It's a combination of playing good football and being hard on your opponents. His teams have always done well and he knows what it takes to get teams promoted out of this league, and even the Championship."
