Wilkins Pleased Overall

Dean Wilkins admitted tonight that he is satisfied with his side's progress from last season.
Speaking during the squad's lap of honour at the final whistle, Wilkins said, "I've got mixed emotions really.
"I'm pleased with the improvement from last season, especially at home. I think it was really important that we gave out supporters some good performances and some good results and I think we did that consistently over the season.
"But having played against the champions today it has shown us that we're not quite there yet. We need to be stronger mentally, but I think the younger players will get stronger mentally."
Meanwhile Tommy Elphick admitted he was ecstatic to be voted player of the season, but says he couldn't have done it without the help of his team-mates.
"I am absolutely delighted," he said.
"I remember from right when I played my first game, my aim was always to win the player of the season award. I came home that night and said to myself "I'm not stopping here, I'm going to go on and get that award.
"I owe an awful lot to the other players though. Whingy who has played beside me in virtually every game that I have played is an absolute warrior. Guy Butters has taught me everything this season, and to play with a player like that is brilliant.
"Adam El-Abd and Joel Lynch are two others, and even players like Sam Rents have helped me throughout the season.
"Next season I'll be looking to improve. Everybody can improve their game at least 10% and I'll be looking to do that. I will have a good month off and then in June - the second half of our break - I'll be looking to hit the ground running for pre-season in July."
Skipper Nicky Forster believes it has been a positive season overall.
"It has been a fantastic season. There is a little disappointment that we have eventually finished seventh but it has been thoroughly enjoyable.
"There has been good progression from last season and as long as we can build on that in the summer so that we can push on next year - we only need to go one better to be in the playoffs at least."
