The Seagulls duly landed the odds on Tuesday night, maintaining their 100% start to the season. It is a start that has seen Albion's odds for promotion cut by half a point to 6/1 and there are certainly plenty of reasons for optimism at this early stage.

Saturday sees a chance to extend the sequence, with Bristol Rovers having a lot to prove after two successive defeats. Brighton are odds-on once again (4/5) and I am a little torn between recommending that, or plumping for the Draw (5/2). At 7/2 Rovers make no appeal.

Odds elsewhere force my hand. We will take the victory, but rather than at the end of 90 minutes we will take the half-time "result" of a Brighton win at the far better odds of 5/4. At the same time we will insure ourselves with a small punt on 0-0 at 10/1. As always when backing 0-0, do it via the "no goalscorer" option as that gives you the added bonus of discounting own goals.

On the subject of goalscorers, Adam Virgo is proving even more of a talisman than last time and therefore the 12/1 on offer is of great interest - particularly if he is promoted to the forward line to replace the suspended Glenn Murray.

As a longshot, how about Gary Hart at 18/1. Only back Harty for the first goal though, as the value is generated if Micky Adams plumps for the veteran to partner Nicky Forster. If the first goal is scored before Hart enters the field of play, or if he does not feature at all, then stakes are refunded.

Away from Withdean take a look at the Premiership match up between Middlesbrough and Tottenham. I think the home side are overpriced at 11/5.
